Meet the Speech Language Pathologist

Alison Stack, M.S., CCC-SLP, is a Connecticut-licensed Speech-Language Pathologist and holds the Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association, the nationally recognized credential demonstrating completion of rigorous academic, clinical, and professional standards. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Communication Disorders and Sciences, with a minor in Leadership Studies, from State University of New York at Fredonia and her Master of Science in Communication Disorders from State University of New York at New Paltz.

For the past six years, Alison has worked in public school settings serving preschool and elementary-aged students with a wide range of communication needs. Her areas of interest include autism spectrum disorder, language development, augmentative and alternative communication (AAC), and literacy-based language intervention. She has experience implementing low-tech and high-tech AAC systems, functional signs, and other multimodal communication supports. Alison utilizes an integrated, play-based approach to help children develop meaningful communication skills across home, school, and community settings. Her clinical approach has also been influenced by DIRFloortime® training and other child-led intervention strategies. She works with students presenting with articulation and speech sound disorders, language-based learning challenges, and complex communication needs.

Alison is passionate about helping children find effective ways to communicate, whether through spoken language, AAC, functional signs, or a combination of communication methods. In addition to direct intervention, she has extensive experience collaborating with families, teachers, and multidisciplinary teams and is knowledgeable about the special education process and school-based supports.

Earlier in her career, Alison worked in a skilled nursing facility, providing services for adults with cognitive-communication and swallowing disorders. This experience provided a foundation in cognition and communication across the lifespan that continues to inform her clinical practice today.

Outside of work, Alison enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, and exploring new places.
