    Leslie Jones, LMSW

    Individual and Family Therapist

    Leslie is an accomplished social worker with a Master's degree from Rutgers University and 7 years of experience in healthcare. I have a substantial background in trauma-informed care and case management. The highlight of my experience is working with a diverse population in an acute hospital setting, developing relationships with patients and families, initiating psychosocial assessments, and offering emotional support. Providing a strong academic foundation to my position.

    Leslie has a warm and inviting approach to therapy. My commitment is to improve social wellness and cultural competence while building a positive therapeutic connection. My areas of expertise include depression, urbanized trauma, anxiety, and socioeconomic factors that affect one's mental health.

    My mission is to empower individuals and communities by addressing structural issues and promoting significant societal change. I am very excited about having the opportunity to contribute to your novel approach to mental health. Leslie, who is kind and soft-spoken, creates an environment in which adults and adolescent children can get support and a listening ear.

  • Amanda Sanchioni, LPCA

    Site Director

    Amanda is a dedicated and compassionate Associate Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC-A) and Registered Art Therapist (ATR-P) committed to empowering individuals on their mental health and wellness journeys. Holding a Master of Arts degree in Art Therapy and Counseling from the esteemed Albertus Magnus College and a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of Connecticut, Amanda brings a unique and holistic approach to therapy.

    Drawing upon a strong foundation in evidence-based practices, Amanda skillfully integrates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) techniques to help clients identify and modify unhelpful thought patterns and behaviors. Her therapeutic approach is further enriched by the principles of positive psychology, fostering resilience, well-being, and the cultivation of personal strengths. At the heart of her practice lies a person-centered philosophy, ensuring that each client feels heard, understood, and actively involved in shaping their therapeutic goals.

    A distinctive aspect of Amanda's expertise is her skillful incorporation of art therapy. Recognizing the profound power of creative expression, she provides clients with opportunities to explore their emotions, gain deeper self-awareness, and facilitate healing through various art mediums. This experiential approach can be particularly beneficial for individuals who may find it challenging to express themselves verbally, unlocking new avenues for insight and growth.

    Amanda possesses a diverse range of clinical experience, demonstrating her adaptability and commitment to serving various populations. Her prior work includes providing support and guidance to veterans navigating the unique challenges they face, individuals on their path to recovery from substance use disorders.. She has also offered compassionate care to individuals with cancer and their loved ones, providing emotional support and coping strategies during difficult times. She is also ERP trained for OCD treatment and is currently working towards completion of EMDR training for trauma.

    Outside of her professional endeavors, Amanda is a firm believer in the importance of personal well-being and enjoys a variety of enriching activities. She is an avid reader, constantly seeking new knowledge and perspectives. Her passion for creativity extends beyond the therapy room as she actively engages in making art. For relaxation and enjoyment, she appreciates playing video games, nurturing her collection of houseplants, and enthusiastically cheering on the UConn Huskies basketball teams.

  • Brendan Stack, LPC LADC

    Clinical Director

    Founder of Southbury Counseling, Brendan Stack, is a licensed professional counselor and a licensed alcohol and drug counselor. He has specific training in working with depression, anxiety, trauma, substance use disorders, and family issues. He wishes to see a community where every individual is content with their life. He is passionate about helping his local community and looks forward to continuing to grow within Southbury. He is skilled in EMDR, DBT, CBT, and ACT therapy.

Southbury Counseling opened in 2019 when Brendan Stack moved his offices into the Southbury community from northwestern Connecticut. Southbury Counseling is committed to making therapy accessible to every member of the community that needs it regardless of finances. Southbury Counseling is continuing to grow and hopes to help you along the way on your healing journey.
